Ty in Action: Web of Strengths

Web of Strengths Exercise

With a ball of string, chose one of your top strengths and how you are going to use it to ensure you get the most of our time together. Then throw the ball to another group member. Once everyone has taken a turn, you are left with a really cool Web of Strengths which visually expresses how we are all interconnected! One person can let go of their string, thus demonstrating how with a strong web, we are still ok if one person falters or underuses their strengths. We have enough collective strength to help them, and it won’t take down all of our efforts. We can, and do, rely on each other. Another person can pull their string tightly, showing how you can feel the tension if someone is overusing their talent–it doesn’t feel great to everyone else. We’ll still make it, but when we all use our talents just right it feels really natural (credit to Dr. Jon Sexton for this powerful exercise and demonstration).
